Community Assistance Grant
Our Community Assistance Grants support individuals who are experiencing temporary difficulties, providing financial relief for immediate needs such as rent, security deposits, medical expenses, food, clothing, utility bills, and other basic living expenses.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- Part of the LGBTQ+ community
- Reside in Colorado
- Pre-approved by a recognized Referral Agency
Applicants must demonstrate financial need and must not have received Community Assistance from The Alexander Foundation within the previous 12-month period. The maximum amount of assistance is $400. Individuals may only receive assistance five (5) times. Assistance checks are issued only to third parties; for example, the recipient’s landlord or utility company.
The Rocky Mountaineers Motorcycle Club of Colorado Catastrophic Assistance Program
This program supports to those at risk of losing their ability to provide basic life needs, due to treatment or complications related to cancer, a catastrophic illness, or a serious illness. Examples include medical care, housing, food, clothing, phones, and utilities.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- Part of the LGBTQ+ community
- Reside in Colorado
- Have been diagnosed with a form catastrophic illness. HIV positive status alone does not qualify someone for this program.
The applicant’s healthcare provider must certify the condition or diagnosis.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need, and cannot have received financial assistance from the Foundation during the previous 6 months. The “Certification of Medical Condition” must come from the applicant’s healthcare provider, and may also be e-mailed or faxed. This program provides fixed monthly assistance for 3, 6 or 12 months. The amount of assistance is determined by the recipients’ needs but cannot exceed $300 per month.
Holiday Letter Assistance
Available November through December, the Holiday Letter Assistance program provides one-time assistance during the traditional holiday season. The amount of assistance is based on need and the financial support appeal response from the community.
Eligibility
The recipient must be:
- Part of the LGBTQ+ community
- Reside in Colorado
- Demonstrate financial need
A certification from a Referral Agency must accompany the application. Individuals may receive Holiday Letter Assistance a maximum of 3 times. Holiday letter Assistance is issued to third parties based on the need expressed in the application.
The application must be completed describing the assistance need, amount needed, and intention for funds. The application must be signed by an approved referral agency. The amount awarded will be based on need, strength of application, and the Foundation's ability to meet that need.
How To Apply: Assistance Application Process
All applications MUST come from an approved Referral Agency. Applications are processed as they are received, with check runs twice a month on the 5th and 20th.
Referral Agencies must fax or e-mail assistance applications to The Alexander Foundation’s office on behalf of an applicant; mailed applications will not be accepted.
